In Greek and Roman mythology, Bacchus was the god of wine and nautre, inspiring men and women to appreciate music and poetry. "Bacchanalia", the harvest celebrations to honor him, were reputed to be such orgies of excess that the Roman government had them banned.

Bacchus was manufactured by Royal Doulton of England and first offered in 1959. This is the large size mug which is 7" in height. The handle is a grapevine design and Bacchus wears maroon robes and green leaves and purple grapes adorn his head. This mug is in near mint condition with no cracks, chips, hairlines, or repairs.
